Salmon Talks

Created a series of hackathons named ‘Salmon Talks’. It quickly became one of London’s tech community favourites.

Concept: to create a game only using JavaScript and JS libraries. After engineers finished their games, they were played on a big screen and people voted for the best game of the night. We advertised the event via LinkedIn, Slack communities, Discord communities and Reddit.

The winner won Amazon vouchers (they were cool back then). We invited speakers as a way of ‘headhunting’ them. From a recruitment perspective, this was highly successful. Furthermore, we achieved community building with software engineers in London and positive branding for the company (VML).
